Inquiry Updates
National authorities announced that the jet’s port side wing caught fire and an engine detached soon after liftoff from the aviation hub, causing the aircraft to fall and explode into a blaze.
The NTSB stated it is investigating the jet’s maintenance history, that was in the state for repairs several weeks before the crash.
Aircraft data showed the aircraft was on the ground in that location from 3 September to last week.
“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was located in that city,” stated an official on later, without a specific period. “We will examine every piece of service that was done, including the San Antonio time, straight to the date of the flight.”
Retrieval of Key Evidence
The cockpit voice recorder and information unit were found, and the motor was found on the runway.
The units – called black boxes – were designed to survive collision damage and intense temperatures from blazes, and they appeared to be intact when located among the wreckage. Investigators plan on examining data from the black boxes.
Jet’s concluding data recordings showed an altitude of 475 feet and a speed of 210 miles per hour before the accident.
Service History
According to Federal Aviation Administration files from last month, a crack on a component within the fuel container required fixes.
The company ST Engineering, which stated it offers aircraft servicing for UPS’s MD-11 and runs a service location in that city, declined to provide remarks, but stated it would work closely when investigators contacted it.

Teamsters Local 89, which stands for UPS workers, began the memorial with a quiet tribute at the evening hour, the estimated hour of the incident previously.
